Default V-Leds LED Back-up light install question

I purchased a High power 18w LED Back-up license plate frame, on sale for $29.95, from V-Leds for my 2013 FX4. It is a reverse / back up light built into a license plate frame. I searched but could not find anything about installing these.
Question: What is the correct way to wire these? The instructions only have 1 sentence about installation. "Connect to the back-up circuit using 3m splice tabs", which makes sense but leaves out a bit of detail.

I removed my tail light, stuffed a wire down the opening and then tied my vleds plate wire to the wire and pulled it up. then just tap the wires behind the reverse light. the splicers didn't work for most of us, a lot of people just peeled back the wire insulation and tapped it like that. heres my thread with a ton of info

+1 for this. I also ran mine along the bumper and into the tail light housing. I then spliced and soldered into the reverse lights on the passenger side. I then used liquid electrical tape over the solder. Those splicers are JUNK in my opinion. They work for some people but I'll never trust them.
