Tennessee requires disclosure of accidents. I really think every state should. It's not fair to the next buyer to be purchasing a vehicle that might have issues. Even if the vehicles looks fine on the outside, they might have some work done down the road and find something wrong. Would YOU be happy if you bought a car and later found out that it had been involved in an accident.

Of course, that is why I always buy new.

Agreed. To add to my previous post...I did disclose that there was two hit and runs, also provided the paper work for both from the repair shop along with all service records and Receipts for everything that was done to it, probably helped the sale. If you have these provide them, gives peace of mind to the buyer.

I'm sorry but Carfax is a JOKE! I pulled a carfax on my dad's Dodge Ram about 2-3 years after he was in 2 major accidents and it showed the first accident. He was in a head on with a small car, total amount of damage to his truck was approx $3k. Two weeks after getting it out of the body shop he rolled it, total amount of damage was over $12,000!! It did NOT show that accident. Same responding agency.....Alaska State Troopers and same body shop did the repairs.

Carfax never showed the accident my Pilot was in either, dealer pulled on before we traded it to confirm the accident I signed paperwork about and told me it didn't show up. It also never showed an accident on a truck I was looking at that had an obviously welded frame and major body work on the front end. At that point I lost all faith in carfax.

The only reason it may show the accident my son's car was in 2 weeks ago is because the car is declared a total loss even though is only a dented fender. Not hard to total a 95 Escort, tough car, runs so good that we kept it and he'll keep driving it.

I agree. Carfax is a joke. My brother was working at a used car lot, someone came in to buy a Jeep Liberty, he ran the Carfax and it said the truck had never been in an accident, but when the potential buyer took it to a mechanic for inspection, he found several weld lines indicating the entire front end had been replaced poorly, and the welds did not look professional. I'm guessing the wreck was not reported to insurance and was repaired at someone's home shop. Although my brother said that Carfax also had a guarantee letter attached to the report, the buyer passed on the deal. I wonder what the guarantee would actually cover.
