Default USB wiring for constant power?

Im trying to find a way to have my USB ports always powered even when the truck is off. I know a few threads here have stated this is how they are from the factory, but I disagree.

When I plug anything into them with the truck off I am not able to turn it on.

So, does anyone know the process in wiring the sync module to a constant power rather than switched?

Target sells flush 1amp 12v to USB cig adapter. My 12 volt outlets are always powered. Still able to close 12v flap when not using. I don't know how much if any current they draw when not in use. I don't leave it installed.

Yeah that won't work for my application. I am doing the USB 2 "mod" and I need the usb input into the radio system to be powered all the time, or at least when i remote start the vehicle.

I went and bought "monster Icharge". Anyways Its a 12v charger with a cord for iphones. I no longer have an iphone, but i bought the charger because Its got a chrome ring around it.

a few weeks ago, when i picked up a buddy for coffee... He swore up and down that it looks stock because of the chrome vent rings.

Like yours, Its always powered up, AND is a dual charger. One for my phone, one for my gf's.

30 bucks after tax... Worth it to me.

Assuming sync is fully USB compliant buy a powered USB hub. Power it off always on 12v fuse block or splice 12v plug. Might need to step voltage down to USB hub depending on what you buy. Should be less than $30 bucks or so all said and done. This will let you keep it powered all the time and use it with sync.

Does anyone know if the USB powered hub will allow a hard drive to communicate through it to the sync system?

Man I never get tired of using a ****ty search engine, and trying to waste 8 hours of my day finding something that is buried in 54 pages of a thread. Sorry I will be back in a couple of days when Im done reading.
