Welcome to the love/hate relationship we all have with the Sync system. If it ever goes completely unresponsive regardless of how many times you restart the truck try unhooking the neg lead on the battery for 30 seconds. You'll have to reset your bass, treble, balance, & fade settings but it'll keep your radio presets. I need to get my truck back to the stealership and lobby for a new Sync module. Last time they tried a software update but I think the only reason that worked for a couple of weeks is because it rebooted the module after the update.

I've had nothing but great experiences with my 2010 and droid and BlackBerry phones. Had issues with my ipod but I got rid of it and went to usb drives, no problems since! Works great. All my phones have always connected first time every time and have never disconnected unexpectedly.

Mine has the same problem. About 10% of the time, it won't recognize the USB, even if it was playing when I shut the truck off last.

I've found that selecting the USB source from the menu usually works, and if that fails, I can usually unplug the USB for a moment, then plug it back in, and choose the USB source again.

It's a pain to keep doing it 3-4 times a week, but I haven't found any other solution.

Well using the voice input seems to work, at least I won't be wearing out the starter and drivers door resetting it anymore.

I am using a old Ipod connected usb and having the same trouble. Thought maybe it was the old ios software in my Ipod that was the problem. Guess not.

Mine goes completely unresponsive. Nothing works, there's not even power to the USB ports to charge a phone. The radio, CD, & Sat work but Sync will be totally dead no matter what button you push or how many times you cuss at it...that chick's voice asking what you want never happens. I've got a vid on my phone I need to post up...

I have been doing as suggested earlier: pressing the media voice button and saying usb and bam it starts playing. Still an inconvienence but atleast its playing now.

I can live with this process.

Thanks for the advice guys

What he said...Voice commands..phone service..sync..usb all will be dead unless I turn off my truck and open the door. Sometimes that doesnt even fix it. Sometimes it will all of the sudden come on, I'll hear the ipod plug in noise, and it will work while im driving. It's kind of a flip of the coin. Sometimes it will work but my ipod will have to be unplugged and plugged back in to get it out of Initializing..This is why I stopped using usb2. Its too much of a pain in the *** to unplug and replug my ipod in from the glove box while driving. Sync works great sometimes, but other times its a complete PITA.

I have this problem too. It usually happens if the truck is really hot inside or really cold. Dealer said all updates are installed so they don't know why it's doing it. Everything starts working after about 5 to 10 mins of driving. The only thing that works until then is radio and cd.
