USB input only works part time?
2013 XLT , The USB input only works part of the time, when it works it will say sync usb upon startup, when it doesn't work it will say sync line in. Shutting key off and opening door and restarting it will reset the system and 9/10 time it will work.
If it doesn't come on at startup I've found no way to get it to work, once it's working you can switch to radio, sat, whatever and when you come back to it it's working.
Any ideas? dealer has done a reset with no difference, I've switched USB sticks to rule that out.

I've noticed that what mine is doing is after I select the media source ( USB ). Sometimes after turning off and exiting my vehicle for the day while I'm at work. I get back in and it works fine, still on usb, other random days, it requires me to select the source again. I use a 32Gb USB flash stick. I have not connected the dots as to what causes the system to require me to reselect the source. It seems to happen randomly (but frequently) and I listen to music on my USB drive more than Sirius or anything else.

Thanks guys. Mine does the same thing, and I too use a USB data drive for my music. My Sync system can go quite a while being completely unresponsive - music wont play, phone wont sync... I can hit the voice command button but nothing happens.
I'll try formatting the drive as suggested. I have not tried that yet!

My 2012 does this also. I can be listening to my i-pod just fine thru the usb plug then turn the truck off, then when I go to restart the truck the sync won't play from the i-pod no matter what I try (unplugging/switching source) I will try the voice command and or the shutting off the truck and restarting again.
Pretty irritating to deal with tho, since I almost always listen to my i-pod.

As was indicated above, this is because the truck, for some reason, switches from Aux USB to Aux Line In, which is the headphone jack input in the same area as the USB input. Hit the voice command button and say "USB", this should fix it. Its an annoying nuance, I had the same issue, but this was the issue and fix I have found.
