Hey, everyone. I have the radio in image 1 and I was wondering if it was possible to from the radio in image 1 to the radio in image 2. if it is, what all would I need to switch it over. Also is it possible to upgrade from the first image to sync 3? I know you can upgarde from sync 2 to sync 3 but I can't find anywhere where someone has tried to upgrade from the first image to sync 3. I would put an aftermarket in it but I'd rather keep an OEM look. Image 1 Image 2
There are many threads with quite a bit of detail on this already. The ease and cost of the 'upgrade' depends on the year of your truck. 2013+ is much easier and doesn't require as many component and wiring upgrades to do it. While you may not like the look of non-OEM, anything aftermarket is going to be better than what is in picture #2. There are plenty of folks on here that completed nice audio/video upgrades to non-OEM that are very happy and also have a near stock or more modern appearance of the dash.
Your best bet is to get a dual-din adapter kit and an aftermarket dual-din radio. My whole setup was like $200 and I have bluetooth and CarPlay and everything.
