Sorry if this is covered somewhere but using the search function didn't turn up what I was looking for.

I have an 07 King Ranch with the separate fob and key. They are getting worse for wear and since replacement will be upcoming I wondered if I can upgrade to the newer style key with the fob built in.

Anybody got experience with this?

 

never heard of anyone doing this. is your truck an 11th gen thats in your profile pic? definitely don´t see the see the fob and key one piece working on those. i think the ignition design is a little different between the two. if you have a 12th gen with the key and fob separate it must be a 2009-2010

 

When I had my 2006 F150 I used a key from a similar age Ford Edge. I had the key cut by my local Ford dealer and programmed it myself. Was very easy and worked great.

I don't but the instructions were in the owners manual. You can download an electronic owners manual for your truck from Ford.com
