Update: They just called yesterday that the Ford techs looked at it and said the build date of my truck shows that it wasn’t affected by the torque converter problem mentioned in the TSB, but they think it’s the automatic clutch within the transmission. So Monday morning they are sending it to a transmission shop, so that they can drop the transmission and check that clutch for sure.

According to them, once they get it to the transmission shop Monday morning, they’ll be able to have it done within the week. Not sure if that means replacing just a single part, or rebuilding the transmission altogether.

THE VERDICT: Picked up my truck today and they did quite a bit of work. They reconditioned the transmission (is that the same as rebuilt?), put a brand new torque converter (they said when they opened it up the torque converter was messed up and had been releasing metal shavings), they flushed the transmission, put in fresh oil and filter, and then reprogrammed the PCM because it was two updates behind apparently (whatever that means). Luckily I didn't pay a dime for any of this.

It seems to be driving a lot smoother now, and hopefully that solved everything.
