www.eastwood.com makes a really good rubberized product. Go to the site and type in rubberized undercoating in the search. I have used this product on my old truck and it held up very well. I am actually planning on doing my new 2011 next week on my days off. It is very reasonably priced as well. I was looking at the 3M rubberized undercoating. They want $221 for 6 cans. Eastwood has the same type product for $16 a quart. I have no doubt that the 3M is probably the superior product, but it can't be that much better for the price difference!

I also think when you get something thick like a rubberized undercoating you are helping with road noise

Is it ever TOO LATE to install an undercoating... Has my truck last winter in the North East where lots of salt is used.

Curious if installation now is considered "trapping salt within" and it will continue its procress of rusting undernieth

I know they pressure wash underneath to clean it up. I'm sure it will be fine but ask the shop that will do it.

I noticed a slight improvement. Not enough to justify getting undercoating specifically for noise reduction.

It can do more bad than good if it is not done correctly. The undercoating can seal drainage holes designed into the vehicle. I used to get it done but not any longer. Most of the benifit, I have read, with undercoating is it's sound deadening qualities. Let's face it- if they miss one little spot with that undercoating the rust will form and spread. Price mark up is also high.

This is why the oily type of protection is better than the rubberized stuff. Does not clog drain holes, lubricates the chassis and is applied each year. Nothing is "covered up".

I just drove an hour and a half to get my '11 EcoScrew Rust Checked. The locations close to me do it in 40 minutes. The guy I use spent 2 hours and 15 minutes on my truck. And he hustles. Not cheap at $159.00. This guy doesn't miss a spot. My family has used him for years. He even took the time to explain to me what areas of the frame and box rails to really rinse out come spring. Yes my truck is an oily mess right now! He even sprayed where the chrome cladding meets the aluminum rim, to help prevent salt from eating the rims. I live just outside of Toronto Ontario.
