Under hood temps
Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has seen issues with underpants temps getting too high and causing any problems. I am currently working with a law enforcement agency here in southern Texas, they have some k9 units with some good vents. They are only on the k9 with the Ecoboost. Some of the k9 units have the 5.0 but no vents. They come to the agency with the vents on already, so it's it a precautionary thing since k9 vehicles sit idling more than regular units? And if so why just the Ecoboost trucks?
The trucks with said vents are all 13 and 14 model years, and they are only on the Ecoboost trucks. I believe this is the vent they are running.

Thanks in advance for any input.

wrigdust ... why just the Ecoboost trucks? ...
Not sure at what coolant temp' the cooling fans kick-on for the EcoBoost, but for the 5.0L it's 215°F (thermostat opens at 195°F).
FWIW ... Back-in-the-day, have seen similar vents installed on Crown Victorias. Then too, it wasn't uncommon to pop the hood (to the catch) during long periods of idling.

I wonder if anyone has had issues with it on their daily drivers? I kinda like the look, but don't want to spend that much money on something that is mostly going to just be an aesthetic mod if the temps don't get that high normally.
