because if your engine blows and your truck is stock, warranty will cover it. if it's tuned, maybe not.

Do the tuners not come with the stock tune on them? Could you not just flash it back to stock before taking it to the dealership?

I have a Livernois tuner, but I'm not using it til my warranty expires.
To me, it's not worth it.

This is a misconception.

A Ford dealer can do whatever it wants, because they can CLAIM your tune did XYZ damages. The burden afterwards falls squarely on the owner to SUE in court and make them prove their claim.....but you still have to sue , hire lawyers, fund experts to come assist you in court against the BATTALIAN of Ford Engineers on payroll and Harvard level lawyer teams.

99% of the time it's a no brainer that a tune changes the fuel mapping, pressures, etc and can do damage to many things on a vehicles powertrain. So even if you want to interpret the laws, we're all peon's up against ginormous corporate entities that can outspend you in court.

Lets not look at Engines & Tunes, lets look at TV's real quick.
If you popped open a Samsung TV and decided to run a new Algorithm that beefed up performance but it ended up dying. Do you think you'd have a snowballs chance in hell of getting it covered under warranty if they knew you did that?? For some reason, people think this logic doesn't apply to New Vehicle warranties. You are modifying the vehicles ......EVERYTHING from what the Ford Engineers warrantied.

You will always hear stories of a few successful guys who got it covered under warranty.
You will always hear a few stories of people in accidents that were ejected without a seatbelt and lived. It doesn't outweigh the odds of it not going in your favor.

EXACTLY what he said. I used to be a dealership shop foreman, and I know this to be fact. It's not that they are TRYING to be "hard asses" about it, but I actually know people who got fired for OKing too much warranty repairs!

The tuner saves your stock tune to the device and yes it is advised that you flash back to the stock tune before you take truck in for service.
I run the 5 star tunes and they are amazing, the trans shifting alone is worth it to me, actually seems safer then stock shifting.
And like Vozaday and I said if you're really worried about it get the Stage 3/5 star warranty.
I went with 5 star not only due to all the good reviews but for the fact they are the only ones who offer a warranty.(I did not get the warranty) I guarantee they do not want to pay out warranty work. They have conservative but extremely effective tunes, I've tried another tuner and quickly went back to my 5 star tunes.

To be fair, nobody has had to invoke the warranty from Stage3 yet and reported it here. You can hope and pray it will save your butt, but it is still technically an unproven investment.

Exactly, and there's been many post of warranty work not being done on total stock vehicles, or having to pull teeth to get it done.

Do you think stage 3 would want the reputation of selling a warranty so you can upgrade your truck and then go denying warranty work? They would likely lose most of their business with shady practices like that and I just can't see the guys at stage 3 doing something like that because all of my personal experiences have been extremely positive and everything I've read about them on the internet it sure seems like they are a great group of people/company.

FYI; Even though you change back to your stock tune before taking your truck to the shop it leaves a footprint in the computer that the tune has been altered.
