Tuning before your out of warranty
So I'm looking at pulling a 5400lb T.T. With my 2014 Screw 5.0 and 3.55 gears. I've done the math and will be right at my Max but was thinking of Tuning my coyote. I hear that could void my warranty and was wondering what the members on this forum think about tuning before or after warranty ??? Any input would be appreciated:-)

Don't. I just had my knocking engine replaced under warranty (common issue with 5.0's) and they said that if it was tuned, they would've denied my warranty and I would've been stuck with the $7,450 bill. My truck has 3.55 gears with 33" tires and I really hate the way the gears handle the tires, but I want to hold off on tuning it until the warranty is done and I would recommend doing the same.

It depends on your dealer. If they know the rep of the tuner is good and that you aren't some dipstick kid that's going to tune it and rag the ***** out of it, it may not make a difference. Aside from that, typically the shop has to PROVE that the tune is what caused the damage. They cant just "say so", there has to be actual proof. The problem there is that will drag the work out FOREVER and likely cause the dealer to be a total bag of dicks next time you need them.

This exactly if your worried about warranty.
As mentioned it really depends on the dealership. An example was today I was talking to the service manager and she asked if I was going to put the tune back on. I said yes because it has warranty (5 Star warranty), she said either way it doesn't matter. They don't believe in voiding warranty over a tune. They said odds are the engine would have failed anyways.
