Default Tuner...Programmer..reccomendations for 09 5.4

I am getting a tuner, intake and exhaust on the truck this weekend, or after the phasers are fixed. Looking to see what everyone recommends for a tuner, and the best place to get it. I looked at the bully dog gt, but didnt see really any praise, I know they are gas motors and coming from deisels, maybe I expect too much, I am looking for firmer shifts, more power, not alot but some and a little MPG would be nice too. I have seen good things about SCT, but just needing canned tunes with some decent power.

Hi.

Simple choice SCT X4.

Thing is, depending upon vendor you can get this thing WITH custom tuning of your choice, specific to your truck - included for about the same price - that to me is a no-brainer, as custom will always >> canned.

good luck

I have the sct and custom tunes from Mike at 5 star. I love the way my truck drives now. Fixed all my shifting issues that I was having.

If you Google 5 star tuning it will pull up there website. It will give you a contract number to call them. he is really knowledgeable just tell what you have done and what you want to do in the future. He can re write your tunes if you do additional mods.

I have had great results with Power Hungry Performance in there custom tunes, they did my 08 5.4 and they now use SCT, they did my 13 5.0 with the custom tuned SCT X4.

two things:

- You don't need anyone local - the custom calibrations are emailed to you, after you complete the custom tuning forms - you download the tunes to the device (which you will already have been sent) yerslef using SCT's free software.

2. You don't need any supporting mods. Intakes and exhaust do not get you any significant power - ALL the gains are in the programmer. Save yer money. Simple Exhaust mods ( mufflers and catbacks) need no retuning. IF yer insist on having an intake, before you buy it, specify the exact model @ programmer order time so the tunes can have the correct MAF TF embedded. DO NOT install it until yer tuning is ready to load.

You can correct for gearing changes or different tire sizes yerself at any time later.

2009 5.4 3V? You should read this - from PHP: http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...highlight=2009

Thanks for the help guys, I am going to order one here, thinking the 400.00 tuner through franchi, my last tuner was a mini max race on a diesel and set me back 1800 as EPA no longer allows it, but this is a relief!
