That's a video with one truck in 2WD High against a truck in 4WD Low ... has no relevance to what I posted ... both trucks I presented will be in 4WD Low.

The new trucks have the EXACT same axles as the 04's, the 04 has a 4 speed auto not a 6 speed and the TC locks just like the 6 speeds but not in any gear that you will be using at that low of a speed. Like I said, its all about traction and whoever loses it first loses. Trucks pulls are dumb and prove nothing.

Sure it does, surely the trans is weaker in that ranger, it no doubt has less power and Im sure the materials used in the newer dodge are much better quality than the ranger (sarcasm) but the ranger had more traction, it won. Like I said, traction wins. You didnt mention what cab your buddy's truck has but since its and FX4 its probably an extended cab or crew cab meaning he wil have the weight advantage. Since you will both be using 4x4 his weight over yours means he will have the traction advantage, he will pull you around if he knows how to keep traction.

If your tires are taller you have affectively changed you rear gear ratio to a higher ratio than his, but you have the six speed auto with a low first gear, I think you'll win. If you give it just enough gas to hold him, he will most likely gun it trying to pull you and when his tires break loose, ease the pedal down and pull him clear across town!

Do you get a helmet and crayons if you win?

I think it's in the title, but I could be wrong.

In any case, the drivetrain doesn't matter a whole hell of a lot. First person to break traction and start the tires spinning loses.

Trust me, the '04 from what has been stated as the comparisons, some what questionable if it was stated the '04 had a 6 speed tranny as I believe but am to lazy to go back through all this non-sense yet again, but none the less, from what is stated, the '04 is going to pull you no problem....

I can only go on what he showed me in his truck. Unless I have his year model wrong, then, he absolutely has a 6-speed auto.
