Mine if I floor it a lot at speeds past 50mph but below 70 it will not react then suddenly drop two gears and hard shift.... Going to talk to my dealer when I take it in for oil change

before i would take it in, just disconnect the battery terminals and computer will go back to default settings. i do this to my wifes car about every 6 months and drives like new again. shifts alot better. drive by wire is a lot different than manual gas petal, same with transmission electronic controlled tranny. i only take to dealer as a last resort.

I have a 13' Fiesta as a company car. At 2500 miles, it shifted so badly at low speeds that it felt like it was slipping and missing at the same time. Stopped by the dealer and was told that they had multiple in the shop replacing the clutches in the tranny. When I picked it up, they said it has an adaptive transmission and they re-flashed it, there is a service bulletin out on it. Told me it has to relearn my driving style.

They have made these vehicles so complicated that they can't even figure out how to fix them. Get it to the dealer ASAP. Warranty is your friend.

When you shift from reverse to drive, are you coming to a complete stop and letting the rpms drop down to idle first?

I see people slam their transmissions into drive after backing up without stopping, and just cringe thinking about how much damage they are doing to their vehicles.

But in regards to the first, third shift issue, definitely see the dealer. Warranty is your friend, as stated above.

My 10 has always done it and always bothered me... I've takin it in multiple times and all they say is they installed an "update" I've never had any mechanical issues other than sounding like I'm reving my truck up at the stop lights...

Hi everyone,

If you're experiencing this shifting concern, your dealer is the best place to start. They'll be able to take a look and give you a diagnosis. If you still need help after that, send me (or FordServiceCA if you're in Canada) a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info.

I have 2012 that has done it twice so hard it felt like someone rear ended me. I've also had the TSB for the shudder thing and now my $55k platinum idles like crap when I stop until it catches itself. Frankly, I'm no longer impressed by the F150 and will start looking for a 3/4 or 1 ton in the spring. Hopefully I'll get a good trade in value for this junk.

2011 F150 Screw 4x 5.0l. My trany was doing the same thing, 48K Kms. Rolled up to stop signs or lights and went to go and there was nothing there for engagement. Had the trany flushed as per fords warranty, they updated the PCM and have not had any other issues.

Thought tranny fluid doesn't get changed till 150,000. I think you just had an update.

My transmission after shutting off truck hot at a drive thru then started up to drive away would rev to the moon shifting from 2-3, 3-4. Like it was power shifting. Brought truck to dealer and they reflashed it and hasn't done it in a 1 1/2 and doesn't feel like it will either. Bought my truck second hand with 14,000 miles. So now it has learned how I drive. ;)
