I resent that.

Keep in mind that people will complain when their truck downshifts to 1st gear when slowing for a corner, keeping in 2nd allows for a "smoother" driving experience. It'll shift to first if you floor it.

FWIW, when I'm driving a manual transmission, and not trying to race anyone, I will never downshift to first gear for a corner, or even a "rolling stop" for that matter. It's a lot smoother to just roll through in 2nd and continue on, without snapping passenger's necks with an unnecessary downshift and upshift at low speeds.

I don't mean to offend anyone. I worked with engineers all my adult life, if it wasn't for the educated ones we would not have the quality trucks that Ford builds. But you have to admit some are so book smart they over look reality and real world driving. The best engineers I worked with (at Ford especially) were the "Car guys". They seem to get it right, because they are there enjoying what they engineer and drive . Not the ones graduating with a degree in hydraulics and have to ask me where the master cylinder is.
I am well aware of the shift points of a transmission. The trans will be in what ever gear is the most beneficial for the engines power and efficiency while driving and cruising and coasting, off roading or whatever you maybe doing. But over the many years of driving automatic transmissions as well as manuals transmissions, they or me are usually upshifting at the proper torque (power band) of the engine or close too it. The only thing I wanted to know if my trans is acting a little weird. It is my first 6 speed automatic and I have only had it for a week. I did mention that is comes out of a slow turn fine, and yes it is probably in second gear.
It should NOT be in second gear barely off idle from zero while I am in the middle of a turn doing about 8 miles an hour at that point and fall flat on it's face.
I am driving it a little more aggressive from a stop to see if it "learns" my driving habits and maybe delay the upshift to second. Obviously something new to the car world, (teaching the ECU your driving habits), but it does make sense, and I will give it a shot before I visit my local Ford dealer. Thank you, and have a good night
