Default Transmission Recall 19S07 Update for 2013s

I got the first letter in March telling me to sit tight.

Looks like they are now ready to do the 2013s for Safety Recall Notice 19S07 / NHTSA Recall 19V-075. My second letter just came in.

Just got mine done yesterday! I don't notice any difference in driving.

I am really on the fence as to whether or not I want to get this done. I understand the seriousness of the issue but wasn't there a major problem with the new updates they did on other engines? Didn't they recall the recall so to speak? I have 90K on the truck without any issues and I am a little worried as to whether or not they have gotten this right. Am I just being overly worried about this?

doolyd, there are two issues with the transmissions, The first was this software update for un-commanded downshifting into first gear. Vehicles recalled: Certain 2011-13 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured at Ford’s Dearborn, Mich., assembly plant from April 28, 2010, through Oct. 28, 2013, and at its Kansas City, Mo., assembly plant from May 18, 2010, through Nov. 18, 2013.

The second issue which is not a recall but increases the warranty on the six speed auto transmissions to 150,000 miles or ten years whichever occurs first is a device called the "Lead Frame". I know two people at work that have had to have the lead frames replaced, both 2013's and assembled at the Dearborn plant. It took the dealership a day and half to repair each truck.

I got my letter on Saturday, and on the day before, the truck was in the shop for a 100,000 mile service. I had the coolant system flushed, tranny flush, brake fluid flush, both drive belts replaced, front transfer case and differential fluids replaced, and the service advisor didn't say a word that the software was available.

I most likely will not get the recall performed until my next shop visit. With the software update, your transmission will have to relearn your driving habits for the shift points, so you may notice some early/late or hard shifting.

Just so you know, Dave Z, these two issues are the exact same issue. The software recall is more specific since it mentions the OSS sensor. The leadframe includes the sensor.

Ford is being a jackass separating this and making the "real" hardware fix only a warranty extension instead of a true recall.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" I will NOT have the reflash done. Oh and Dave Z, fyi they didn't flush your transmission, it's impossible due to the internal thermostat of the 6R80, they may have exchanged the fluid and flushed the cooler though.

RNL, my invoice shows transmission fluid flush 588 CPF1, BG6600 whatever that code stands for and 12 qts XT10QLVCB bulk fluid at $6/qt. This dealership may have the correct machine that heat the fluid to open the thermostat? This dealership has the highest volume of trucks in the Memphis region

Got my second letter on Friday. I will also NOT be having it done until I’m absolutely positive the reflash won’t screw things up. My only concern is that I have the dealership perform scheduled maintenance on my truck and they might do it automatically or give me chit about not doing it. Considering it IS a recall, do I have the option to pass on having it done?

According to the Ford shop manual one would use a fluid transfer machine that heats the fluid, that is an exchange not a flush. They may have it listed as such generically.

That would be up to the dealer I would think. I know when ever a vehicle came in for diagnostics at the dealer I worked at. The 1st thing I did was check Oasis for open recalls and apply them if just programming, or replace parts as needed as a courtesy to my customers.

If it came in just for an oil change or basic maintenance that's all it left with.
