Default Transfer Case usage

Hello y'all,
This is my second 4 wheel drive (FX4) but my last one was a J-10 Jeep Honcho. My question is should I drive in 4 wheel drive for a mile or so every month to keep all parts lubricated if I am not regularly using the 4 wheel drive function?
Thanks, Cliff

Flipped mine on last night, on the road to my house for about 1/2 mile. It made a wierd whinning sound. Is this normal, since I was going about 20mph on the blacktop road?
