Default Trans temp - '12 EcoBoost

This has probably already been covered here, but i can't seem to find it. Anyhow...I have a new (2k miles) '12 2-wheel drive EcoBoost SCREW. What are normal (non towing) transmission temps? Seems like I remember seeing people talking about 195-200 degrees being high, which is where mine in staying. I would like to know what others are seeing. Thanks for your help.

Good question as I was wondering the same thing.

I shoot sporting clays and pull a trailer with my Polaris Ranger in it.

My trans temp without the trailer is running around 199.

Don't know what it is going to do when it is 90 outside!

From what I've read its normal. Apparently Ford made some changes to the trans cooling system in the '09+ trucks such that they run around 190-198 in normal conditions. I've seen lots of reports saying it doesn't go any higher under even moderate towing. They must like it running that temp for efficiency sake or something.

I have an Eco 4x4 max tow and if it is warm out I see 199 not towing, cool out high 180's. I was wondering that also, thought it would be cooler with the extra tranny unit on there.

12, SCREW 4X4, it runs about 195-199 on the highway at 70mph, and as high as 205 when I'm really pushing it over the 11,000 ft passes here in Colorado. I didn't notice it going any higher than 205 the one time I pulled a u-haul 6x12 trailer loaded to the gills.

I am pretty sure those temps are normal for these trucks. Mine has always been between 194 and 199 unloaded and it hasn't made a difference if it was 15 degrees or 105 degrees outside. Towing my boat in the summer heat, the temps never got above 210 and it only got that high going up hills on the interstate. Boat weighs between 4500 & 5000 lbs loaded and gassed.

Towing a small (22') camping trailer it runs 200 degrees or so, only a few degrees hotter than running solo on a trip.
