Default Trans flush and filter

What should someone expect to pay for this? I had an appointment because I was quoted $185 vs a $235. Waited around and was told because I have a 4wd and a trans cooler about 3 hours of work was needed to do it. So the price jumped to $400. Something about a 2nd thermostat and they couldn't backflush through it.

I paid 184 before tax. 14 qts of fluid and watched them do it. They actually tapped into one of my external transmission cooler lines. At the end the did a manual level check using the side dip stick.

Ford does not recommend flushing transmissions for maintenance. Flushing should only be done for a transmission replacement and it requires special equipment to heat the fluid to open the internal thermostat. Ford prefers the old fashioned drop the pan, replace the filter, and fill it up procedure.

True on the flush, not so much on the other. 2011-2014 and possibly above and below those years Ford does not recommend servicing at all unless used in severe duty and then only at 150,000 miles. Sealed for life.
