I got the recall notice and have been running an MPT tune for the last 2 years without any issues. I have a 2013 STX 4x4 with the 5.0. It has 215k on it and I have decided to go with the rule that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Update. It seems like the previous owner may have put 4.10 gears in the rear end which would account for my speedometer being fast. I plan on buying a calibrator for it. The shifting issue hasn't gotten any better. When the trans is cold it shifts hard from first to second. Sometimes feels like someone hit me from behind. It's worse with light throttle. Smoothes out when the trans warms up. Also when hauling or towing it shifts great. Works better with a load, doesn't seem to be slipping and smoothes out after warm up. Anyone else's tranny do this?

Well, I experienced similar but intermittent issues but they were not a result of the recall reprogram (had it done while I was experiencing problems hoping it would solve it, but nope). The problem ended up being a symptom of just barely low transmission fluid, which was a result of a small transmission seal leak that took years of slow dribbling to reduce the fluid enough to cause the symptoms.

A shop added 2 quarts and problem solved. However, the leak was still there and required dropping the transmission; a $950 job that I had them do.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.

I had the tranny recall done.
I get into the truck and my fuel mileage to empty is unusually high, It said 816. Wow I figure they topped it up. Gauge reads 3/4.
Yet I know when I drove it to the dealer it was around 600 and approx.3/4 tank on the fuel gauge.
I'm below 3/4 on the gauge now and it reads over 700.

My fuel mileage went up too but then I noticed that my speedometer was reading fast. They said the recall didn't do it and I should buy a programmer to fix the speedo. Check and make sure your speedo is correct. How does it shift?

Update. I got a programmer and got the speedometer within 4 mph. Went to program it again to get it closer and the truck reduces power and I have a wrench icon on my dash. So back to the shop it goes. Can't wait to see this bill. Stupid truck. If I'd known it would be this much of a problem, I would never had gotten the recall done.

I’ve had both tranny updates. The second is worse than the first.
I wonder if Japanese trucks have problems like this.

I had my 2013 3.5eco with 63K miles flashed today and haven't noticed any differences, I had no problems before this though.
