Default Trailer brake controller

Does anyone know how to wire up a brake controller to the factory 7 way connection with the max tow package? I have a 05 F150 XL. I do know how they wire up from scratch as far as running the brake power to a new 7 way not stock.. But since I already have it all from the factory without the controller it could be an easy install or some splicing? I'm sure this is common.

I would get the OEM one, not sure how you have max tow, but not the brake controller. I thought it was standard with Max tow.

The OEM one is nice an plug and play. All the wiring is already there.

If the truck is prewired it should be as simple as connecting the controller and installing a fuse/relay inside the power distribution box, the harness will be attached under the steering column to one of the dash panel support brackets just to the right of the steering column.

I guess that's the key. Not all '05s were pre-wired. But with the tow package and the 7 pin in the back, you would think it should.

Yeah if it has the oem hitch and 7 pin out back then it most certainly has the wires under the dash for the brake controller, it's not a connector shell that some will think, it's usually just the wire ends that will have to be connected.
