Default TPMS questions

Tomorrow I will be switching wheels and tires with a guy. He has a 2004-08 F-150 with kmc monsters and nitto trail grapplers. I called discount tire and they said his TPMS won't work with mine. Is this right? Does $175 sound right to switch it all around?

T'is true .... The previous generation TPMS is not compatible with the new.

Rather than swap TPMS ... Why not buy and install new ?
*I've seen 'em on ebaY® for less than $100 for a set. Besides .... The expected battery life of the TPMS is ~7years.

BTW ... The tire shoppe will have to break-down the tires to remove the old TPMS, install the new, and then re-balance.
