Default Toyos on ecoboost. HELP!

Need help! Ecoboost leveled and add a leaf. Drove fine with stock goodyears. I put 285 70 r 18 toyo mt open country on last week. Truck roams all over, hard to drive, and top heavy as hell. Truck looks awsome, but drives like crap. Can anyone tell me why? I still have stock shocks, is that the cause? They are also on stock wheels.

Take it out to the mud, rocks, sand and gravel and it will shine!

Welcome to the world of Wheelin'!!

I had a 1971 Chevy Blazer 4x4 lifted 4 inches with a Warn winch and bumper running on Dick Cepek 14.5/35/15's AND it had about 750 pounds of Chevy 402 under the hood.
It was not cool on the street - well, it was up to about 30 mph.

I tell you what though, off pavement, HOLY **** Batman!!! That thing ran around over and through everything like a 5,000 pound methed out Wolverine!

stock wheels and shocks have nothing to do with it. Did you have your level on with the old tires and it drove fine? like PAW PAW said check air pressure. Did you get an alignment after you installed the levelling kit (the larger tires may amplify it). After I put on my levelling kit with stock tires I drove it to get an alignment and I noticed the steering was very dodgy. I believe this is because the level kit causes slight toe-in.

.... maybe too much air? I have the 305/55/20 Trail grapplers on stock wheels and every time I take my truck to ford they drop the air to 35 Psi (max 65) and it always feels good to me. Your MPG sounds like mine, except I slowed down to just under 70mph and i can get 15.7mpg

I ran 42 to 44 psi cold when I had my Toyo MT's. They are real heavy tires and when I ran 50 psi or a little more when empty my truck bounced like an NBA basketball on the highway. 80 psi on the sidewall is what you can air up to when towing a heavy load or truck bed is loaded to the max. Everday use 42 to 44 psi ought to be great.

check with an alignement, as well the pressure should be 35psi.

I would never go under 40 psi on a LT rated tire especially running at highway speed's in the summer.

I have had 285/75/18 Toyo Open Country's on my truck for nearly two years now, and the truck handles perfectly and tracks true, even on the Fwy. at 70 +. I have a standard 2" level, the truck was aligned perfectly, and the tires balanced when installed. Also, I have always used the factory chrome wheels and have the factory shocks still on.

When I first had the tires installed, the shop put 40 lbs. of air in them; I did notice that the ride was a little harder than I wanted around town, so I dropped the air down to 35 lbs. and it rides very nice ever since. I rotate the tires every 5K and I am getting very good wear out of them.

Not sure why you are experiencing or perceiving the issues you report, and I have not observed anyone else with the larger 34-35" tires have any issues that I can recall, since I have been in this forum?

Maybe it is because it has the EB?? Mine is the 5.4.
