Default Towing Question

I have a 2009 FX4 super cab (4 full doors) lifted 6" with 35s. I tow a 23' trailer now that weighs about 4700lbs I'm looking to go bigger to a 29' that weighs about 5700lbs. My question is do you think I will see a big difference in the weight or lenght?

If you re-gear you should be able to tow it without a problem. But that wasn't your question was it? When turning there will be a slight difference, you'd have to make wider turns than the 23' due to the trailer being 6' longer. As far as difficulty pulling the extra 1000lbs...hmmm, without a regear on 35's with a 6inch lift... You can do it! I've pulled a horse trailer (loaded) with an 05 5.4 4x4 Screw with a 3 inch lift and 35's without having to regear it.

You will loose top end and gas mileage, but will gain back the low end you have lost since lifting the truck. Also...you will definitely feel the 1000lb difference in the trailers. I would run at least a 410 for your application.

Thumbs up

/\/\/\/\ What he said! Going with 410 should get you as close to stock.

I have a 2011 eco screw with a 3.53 rear end. I pull a 30' 5700 lb travel trailer and have no issues when using a weight distribution hitch. I have stock tires and no lift.
