I have a question also in regards to towing.....

My experience in the past when towing heavy loads is to take it out of overdrive. I am assuming that 6th.....and maybe even 5th is an overdrive gear in the F150.

Previous trucks that I have owned have not had the "Tow/Haul" Button.

Max tow rating on my truck is 9800 with the 3:55LS.

Question is.....

If I am towiing....lets say a 7500 Lb load. Do I leave it in drive, click the tow/haul button and let the truck pick the best gear......or should I shift it.....in to 5th possibly.

This is just different than I am used to.

there is no way to put it in 5th u just put it in drive and push the tow/haul mode and ur good to go. The truck will pick the gear.

I do see now.....

The next move down from drive is 3rd......never noticed that. I thought you could manually shift to 5th, 4th or 3rd.

So....I guess the new school of thought is to let the computer pick the gear.

Yes, just lets the computer do it's job. There is no need to worry about shifting it now a days because of the technology.

Great, thanks for all the responses.

I kept seeing "properly equipped vehicle" in fine print and started questioning if I am properly equipped.
But sounds like I'm all set. I'll just look into brake box thingy when I'm ready to buy the trailer.

I actually went to look at explorer trac, once I jumped in the Lariat is was all over.
I never knew the pickups could be so luxurious inside
