Towing with 5.0 vs 5.4

I've towed my boat (~5000 lbs) with both a 2010 5.4 and 5.0. On the same hill the 5.4 has to downshift to another gear to maintain highway speed. I don't think there is any comparison between the 2 motors. The marketing papers can show what they will, but with my boat anyway, the 5.4 will not hold the same gear the 5.0 will.

Speed was the same. The 5.0 had a 3:73 and was in XLT crew cab config. The 5.4 was had a some type of heavy tow pkg with rear view camera in the mirror, not positive but i'd guess it to be 3:73 also based on speed and Rpm. The 5.4 had 35,000 miles and the 5.0 was new. Bow had factory tires.
