Default Took the truck to the dealer

I had a rattle noise coming from my steering column or my wheel. Took it to the dealer yesterday. Today they said it is the clockspring that has to be replaced. Does anybody know what a clockspring does and if its in the wheel or column.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clockspring Don't know whether one is used on these setups or not. Are you sure you're not experiencing the Sticky'ed issue here: https://www.f150forum.com/f38/steeri...errain-94150/?

clockspring is between the wheel and column...its what gives power to the airbag, cruise, horn, and any other steering wheel controls

Well got the truck back Friday. It's Monday and the rattle is back again. Guess it wasn't the clockspring. The sales rep told me first they thought it was a wire then figured it was the clockspring.

The noise mine makes comes from the area in the steering colum that goes around where the blinker stalk go into the colum. Put a little peice of foam, or something to put some pressure on the colum right there and it'll stop making the noise. Once you do that you'll notice the chrome trim around the drivers side ac vent rattling.

Today I noticed that the noise stops when the wheel is turned. The dealer didn't even put the plastic around the steering column back the right way, I had to do it.
