I have a question for you guys that have tonneau covers. What is the best brand and type with ease of install , also did you see any gas mileage improvement after install. Thanks for any input

The most popular covers with members here are made by Bakflip (G2, HD, F1) , extang (solid fold) , and Peragon. If you are interested in a one piece fiberglass type cover, ARE and Leer seem to be the go to options.

The current generation F150 is designed to get optimal gas mileage and aerodynamics without the use of a tonneau cover. The back lip of the tailgate is designed so that air flows from the back of the cab right over the tailgate. I believe some members have actually seen decreases in mpg when adding a cover because they alter the aerodynamic properties and add weight to the vehicle.

Undercover SE no mpg increase but no decrease either. It's only 50 pounds and super strong. And easy to install. Fiberglass is heavy.

Ford Accessories version of the BakFlip. I think its the G2. I left the lot with it on, so I dont know about before and after mpg.

My new truck has the Fold A Cover, I like it better than the Peragon I had on the '09 Lariat.

After 4 trucks with and without the bedcovers, I think I get about .5 mpg better with the covers.

I went with the Bak Roll-X. Easy to install. Strong. Can see out the back when it is rolled up. No drain lines to mess with. Doubt there will be any change in mpg.

Default Extang BlackMax

I chose the Extang BlackMax for my '09 FX4. I liked the "old school" look of the snaps, and it's easy to roll up behind the cab if I want to haul something. The only downside is if it is cold outside its really hard to get it snapped back on unless I pull it into the garage and warm it a bit.
I also installed a tailgate seal. That keeps most of the dust out of the bed.
