My Son-in-Law stopped by the other day with my old XLT.
Just had to take a pic.

LOL, unfortunately those aren't the actual tags. Wish they were though.
I always Photoshop them. In Texas, registration information is public. too easy for someone to find out where you live.

Devils advocate here, what's stopping the person behind you in traffic to get your information?

You don't have to worry about me (or maybe others too) driving down there. I just don't see the point of covering it.

Believe me, it happens. And all that public information can be helpful as well.

Note: I spent 20 years working as a skiptracer. Have located people and arranged recovery of assets nationally and internationally.

A couple of years ago, my daughter came out from grocery shopping to find the rear end of her car bashed in. Fortunately a witness had jotted down what they thought was the license plate, a description of the truck that backed into her and a description of the person driving. Although the sequence of numbers/letters on the plate were out of order, it gave me enough information to eventually identify the perp and track her down.

Interesting part of this story is that the young lady that owned the truck happened to be out of town on vacation with her family (verified) Her boyfriend had the keys and loaned the truck out to another girl to drive.

Anyway, the point of covering (Photoshopping) it on public posts?

Just read through some of the threads here. There are some very expensive trucks and modifications found on here and other forums. Tires, wheels, running boards, tailgates, guns hidden away in nooks and crannies, etc.

Not saying that any of the esteemed members of this board would do anything like that but there are a lot of lurkers out there as well.

As they say, Better Safe than Sorry.

I worked with quite a few "skiptracers" in my career. We called them "head hunters" in my day. And you're correct, in these days of electronics it doesn't hurt to be careful.
