Couldn't you just set the auto lock on the iPad to 30 seconds or something? The assistive touch should have a lock option in the menu too.

Either that, or set up some sophisticated motorized cover that blocks the Smart Cover sensor on the iPad by the flick of a switch,
So it acts like a Smart Cover sort of device locking it.

Jail break it and get the app called plugged in from Cydia. You can set it so that when you turn the car on it unlocks and starts up music or any app you want and when you turn the car off it pauses the music and locks.

That's what I used for mine in my car.

Just google "jailbreak iPad x.xx"

Put whatever software version your iPad has in place of the x's. It's a fairly simple process.

Would it still work if you also got the NoACCSplash from Cydia and piped it right into the USB system, instead of fiddling with line-in converters?

I'm not sure as I never tried it and I used the iPad with rca's out to an eq then to an amp so I had no seperate radio.
