Tires Chopping on Outside
Hi guys. We noticed the other day my BDG KO2 tires are getting a bit chopped on the outside of the tread. My dealer suggested bringing it in, on Monday, to check alignment. It was done a year ago when I put my level kit on. I just saw another thread on the electronic power steering rack possibly pre wearing the inner tie rod ends, causing chopping on another forum member's truck. I had my EPAS rack replaced a little over a year also. Question is, should I have the dealer check the tie rods or anything else before they go and do an alignment? Anyone have this issue before? Thanks!!

An alignment tech's 1st job is to check the suspension and steering components, once all are confirmed ok, then the alignment takes place.
Get a before and after printout with specs. Oh and you shouldn't have to tell them but make sure they do a thrust angle alignment, that ensures all 4 wheels are inline with the frame.

When I was running the BFGs mine chopped on the inside edge. After years of struggling with it over several sets of tires it turned out I wasn't running enough air pressure. Turned out I had to run the E range rubber solid as a rock to get them to wear evenly.

Thanks for your suggestions guys! Gives me more to go on, when I take it in tomorrow. Will make sure they check over all
The suspension components too, before doing alignment.

My first thought also.
Is the chopping on the outside of the front tires only? How many miles since you rotated? If the answers are yes and more than 5000, you need to rotate more often.
I have had the same issue on several vehicles; if there's a lot of turns in your daily drive then the outside of the front tires will wear. Once the tread blocks start to feather on the sides it is time to rotate.
Higher tire pressure on the front will help a bit also, especially if there is accelerated wear on the INside of the fronts.
