F150 EB: 1000 miles towing @ 10 MPG = 100 gal @ 3.27 = $327
1000 miles solo @ 18 MPG = 55.5 gal @ 3.27 = $181

Total combined 2000 miles fuel cost = $508

F250 TD: 1000 miles towing @ 16mpg = 62.5 gal @ 4.20 = $262
1000 miles solo @ 18mpg = 55.5 gal @ 4.20 = $233

Total combined 2000 miles fuel cost = $495

On fuel alone, savings of $13.

Now add increased maintenance cost for diesel, increased registration costs, etc. and it pretty much becomes a wash on which is more expensive. So, if EB makes you happy, drive one. If Diesel makes you happy, drive one.

Life's too short to fight over "mine is better than yours" on things like this.

Are you calling the 5.0 slow then? Have fun making "white smoke" in that duramax hahahaha

Whats an ecoboost post without a jab at the 5.0? But I assure you, if you see me in a duramax, please call the police. I am being kidnapped!!! hahaha

My wife keeps the Telly on HGTV 24/7 so I just surf the web and watch YouTube.

I'm definitely getting the better end of the deal. Since my cat and I both spend time doing this while eating, it's become my own little cess pit.

HGTV= some poor bastid nearly tearing down his house, spending one hundred grand putting it back together again only to wind up about where he started....

Not too sure about this, but it don't matter if it's a eco or not, you slam on that gas pedal and your gonna see results both ways.

1. It's going to haul ass
2. It's going to eat up gas

I get an average now between 19 and 24mpg. For the most part it settles at 21 and that's driving at 70. I can't vouch for towing though. But the numbers seem to be right on target. 10k towing at 8mpg. I think that's about right. I have heard others do just about that.

You don't suppose slamming on that gas pedal and all that smoke in the rear got anything to do with those darn tires not lasting much do ya?

ROFL!

Because of this, my city driving is 10 mpg, and I cant keep a set of rear tires. If I drove a 5.0, it wouldnt be an issue. The only time I get 18+ mpg, is when I drive a "responsible" 65 mph, and that is just not right.

:boxing:

Sounds like operator error to me, a 5.0 would not be any better. Hope you find something you like

I just watched the video for Justin Moore's Bait a Hook and noticed a black F150 Platinum EcoBoost in it... pretty sweet!

We recently watched the first season of The Walking Dead (AMC) on Netflix. It is a great series. Can't wait to watch season 2 on AMC.
