Tire tread width
Hey all you ko2 fans, I'm planning to join the club this month with my first set. One of my Dynapro ATM's is not repairable, and liking the new ko2's. I noticed my spare seemed really narrow compared to my other tires, even though they are all 275's. When I measured, the Dynapro (275/55/20) actual tread width is 9-1/4", and the Goodyear (275/65/18) is only 8-1/4! I'm hoping with all the ko2 guys out there, someone could measure the actual tread width (not the listed section width of a standard 275) of a 275/55/20 and also a 275/60/20 BFG ko2? Would really appreciate it as a lot of posts talk about tires "look skinny", but no one has compared actual tread width of the many different tires out there, only the "section width" as listed by manufacturers. I love how wide my current tires are, and curious if the 55 vs 60 series are actually same tread width, or if that adds to why the higher series look skinny.
From what I understand, a tire's section width is measured from the inner to outer side wall, not the tread. Therefore, depending on the width of the rim that the tire is mounted in, the actual section width may vary. As for the tread, a quick google search seems to suggest there is no real standard governing its size. It's all dependent on how the manufacturer chooses to design the tire.
I have an old BFG KO (not a KO2) sitting in my garage. I can compare it to my spare goodyear when I get home if you don't get a better answer on the KO2s.

Look up the specs on tires.
The section width is the widest part of the sidewall. Tread width is the width of the part of the tire in contact with pavement. It does vary slightly between manufacturers even in the same size.
Section width will change with air pressure. Since the spare has no weight on it, it will be different once mounted.
