265/70/18 is a nice compromise if you want a non-LT tire. Same height as the 285/65/18. Much cheaper, too.
That is what I did. I had E rated 275/70/18's on my truck. There was a slightly noticeable loss of acceleration. It wasn't huge, but you can tell the difference when merging into traffic. When those wore out I went to 265/70/18's. At the time my truck was not just a truck, but our "nice" vehicle when we traveled. I needed a little better ride and the performance was nice too. They cost a lot less as well. You can't tell the size difference without a tape measure.

BUT... We now have an Explorer as our "nice" vehicle and the truck is now just a truck. I may go back to a little larger, tougher E rated tire next time as the truck is used differently now.

Not sure I want to get out of an LT tire. The tire I’m thinking of going with is the BFG A/T KO2. I think it still has good on road performance and I won’t have to worry about it when I drive up the ski hill.

Also, my motor is the 4.6 2 valve and 3.55ls.

you, with a 5.4, don’t have to worry much about anything under 35s, as far as performance goes
I’ve heard others tell me pretty much the same under 34. For some reason I still feel a little skeptical.

All the sizes discussed here are available in LT. Only smaller ones are available as a P.
