Default Time For Some Dampers (shocks) – Advice Needed

I did a search and read through a bunch of stuff but I have not been able to find the information I’m looking for.

2012 F150 fX4 with 18x10’s with 31x12.50’s

The truck has never been off road and never will. It’s my daily.

I have 40K miles now and the factory dampers are smoked………………..20K miles ago. Pretty standard for OEM stuff. Not helped by the heavier wheels/tires.

I’m looking for a good quality stock replacement. I don’t have a leveling kit and even if I had adjustable fronts like the Bilstein 5100’s I wouldn’t level it. I would like something that has more compression damping to deal with the heavy wheels/tires. And some additional rebound would be nice too. So basically “stiffer”. But not much. Just a good riding set of dampers really.

All the reviews I’m reading seem to focus on leveling trucks or going off road. Now some of that is a little helpful what I’m really looking for is people that daily their trucks, preferably with heavier wheels/tires and found a set of dampers that make the truck nicer to drive than let’s say stock.

Thanks for your help guys.

I'm in the same boat. Just upgrade to larger tires on the stock wheels, and am not happy with the rear end "bouncing around" this much when I'm on less than smooth pavement.
I'm at 48K miles now, and assume the shocks are toasted. Bilstein perhaps???

I'm experiencing this(I think). I have 55k miles and I used to think my truck had a slight misfire. Nope, it's the road and I can feel it in the back end.

I love my 5100s. Ride quality for me is better than stock.

For something inexpensive, Bilstein's.

You can leave them at a the lowest setting or you can adjust it to level the truck out.
