Throttle body failures, 2014 5.0
Spent an hour searching the forum looking for info, did not find anything.
I love my '14 F150 XLT 5.0 S-Crew 4x4, but I am unhappy that it has stranded me twice in under 2 years.
January 2015 - dealer replaced the throttle body under warranty at 21,597 kilometers (13,409 miles).
Happened again Thursday, same symptoms - leaving work, started normally, I got out to brush the snow off. After idling a couple minutes, I heard the RPMs drop, sounded lumpy, almost stalling. Got in, saw the wrench on the dash display, put it in Drive, truck would only limp along at idle speed. Parked it where a tow truck could access it easily, called Ford Roadside for a tow.
Dealer replaced the (13 month old) throttle body under warranty today at 34,023 kilometers (21,141 miles).
I asked the service adviser how common this issue is, since it has never happened to me once with any other vehicle. The SA said 1 throttle body failure is rare, 2 is unheard of. Judging by the lack of reports I find on this forum, I suspect this is true.
Has lightning really struck me twice, or do others have this problem?

Out of the four 5.0 f150s I'm around often none of them have had the throttle body fail.
2013 work truck with 70k miles
2014 work truck with 35k miles
2014 friends truck with 16k miles
2014 my truck with 7k miles
All have been flawless with out a single check engine light or wrench. Our personal trucks are tuned and the work trucks are stock but driven hard.
