For those that have converted to 2013 headlights --- worth it?
We have a car that has the Xenon HID headlights and for driving at night, they are extraordinary.
It seems like it is going to be right at $1K to upgrade the lights on our truck, and I am sorely tempted to do so --- but being retired, that is a lot of money, and we don't drive at night very often.
We did however recently drive about 100 miles at night in the truck, and although the high beams did OK, the standard 2012 low beams seem to leave something to be desired....especially at the sides of the road.
A couple of questions for those that have 2013 headlights. What is the cut off at the top and the side of the beams like? Do they light up the right shoulder of the road better?
The very sharp cutoff of the beams on our sports car causes the light to bounce quite a bit --- especially noticeable on road signs and the backs of semis as you approach from behind. Does the stiff suspension on the trucks cause this as well?

They're worth the upgrade, but a lot of people say that the projectors aren't that great. Some say to upgrade the projectors. You can get the headlights on eBay and make your own harness for about $700 or so total.
Your peripheral coverage is excellent in the 2013 HIDs. I was blown away by the brightness of the stock lights and would DEFINITELY recommend them for someone who was looking at that option.
The cutoff is mostly like a trapezoid shape that I haven't had any issues with driving at night. Bouncing also hasn't been a terribly big deal either. They do just what they are supposed to.

I know that there are take offs available for less on eBay....but I want new-in-the-box if I am going to do this.
Just get some PnP HID's...

I say screw the overpriced OEM's and get some retrofits. I did my own retrofit and I've had the projector beside the halogen. It's incredible how great the light output is of a morimoto 55w 5000k system in an FXR is. I have an astigmatism that makes me super sensitive to light and at some angles the Projector was less obnoxious than the halogen!
Here's a couple pics of the comparison:

Looks to me like your light output is not well defined at all, Hardcore.
If you are saying that you put high output bulbs in the standard headlights housings......that is one thing that I want to stay away from, as the standard housing is not intended for that and the dazzle to oncoming drivers is something that is a real pet peeve of mine.....just sayin'

I have a 2011 VW Tiguan that has HID lights. It was the main reason I upgraded to HID on my new F-150. They are equivalent on low beams, the VW is way better on high beams and the Ford does not "swivel" as you turn corners which is nice, but not essential. Overall, glad I did it, but no quite as impressive as on the VW.
