There I Was at the Blue Borg
I pulled up to the blue borg to order some landscaping blocks, there was a young guy in the parking lot that watched me drive up in my F150. He asked if I needed help and I told him I was here to get some landscaping blocks. He asked how many and I told him 250 of them. He told me to back up to the side and he would load them in the back of my truck for me. I stated they weigh about 27 pounds a piece and I don't think my truck could hold almost 6000 pounds in the bed. He said they advertise on TV they can haul up to 11000 pounds why not. I told him I think they are talking about a on a trailer not in the bed and I want them to delivery them for me. He told me if I wanted to pay the 70 bucks for delivery that is my problem. I just figured out the real weight and it is 6700 pounds. So I was off a bit at the store. Gota Love it.
yea...payload and towing are two different animals. It varies by model, but payload on most models is between 1600-2300 lbs.
Good call man.
I'm sure some idiots would load their truck up with 3 times the rated weight and break something.

Had my 01 F250 loaded front to back to the bed rail with bricks. I have no clue how much it weighed, but the rear of the truck was sagging pretty bad and the tires were somewhat flattened. I'd estimate about 3 cubes of bricks at least. At a ton per cube, yeah, it was a lot of weight. Drove it about 20 miles home on back roads. Not that I couldn't have, but I didn't break anything. And the truck had airbags. Should have taken a pic.
F150, 6700lbs, ummm, you made the right choice.
