Well, based on our short discussion, here on the forum, I went ahead and emailed the dealership manager. I pretty much included, what we have discussed, but did ask him, "where I could find these 'engravings', referenced on the window sticker?"

This crap was etched into the lower left portion of all windows on my truck. Can't really see it unless you look at it from an angle in a well lighted area.

No way, that has the high factor of security as "stickers"!

I'm even considering, taking one of the stickers off a fender and putting it on my Zero Turn mower, so nobody steals it!

You could put a "sticker" over the etching. It'd be good to go.

OK! In all fairness, the dealer called me. He explained, that the removal of the sticker leaves an etching in the paint. If the vehicle is not recovered, there is a deduction on insurance premiums, as well as a "cash back" of $5,000 to be applied toward the purchase of a new vehicle (or some such). I suppose, the new vehicle would have "stickers".

So, maybe it has some teeth.

Ok so it carries a little weight, so if I buy used I should be suspicious of random touch up pen spots?
