That sucks, but like everyone has said glad you are okay. Make sure to get the diminishing value for the crash. The difference of before it would have been in the crash regardless if it gets fixed correctly. My wife and dad works for insurance companies. Good luck and glad you and the family are good. The Honda would not have taken it that good.

It appears this guy tested his airbag in a different fashion:

I'm sitting in the dealership about to get a price on a possible replacement.
My side air bags did no jettison any trim pieces at all. None.
Zero flying parts in the interior
The air bags just slid out into place. The trim just parted enough to allow the bags to exit.
Very neat and clean.
Autobody says it's borderline write off with my replacement cost insurance.
Still waiting on my insurance estimators to evaluate the truck.

I think it's probably totaled. I rear ended an SUV about 1.5 years ago going about 30 mph and ended up having the car totalled. Nowadays, if the airbags deploy, you're into about 5-10K already. Let alone seatbelt actuators and all. If the autobody says its borderline, hopefully they will make sure it's totaled cause it probably will never be the same. My auto body place was going to replace the wiring harness for 2.5K because a connector was broke. Dumb me asked them why they couldn't just replace the connector, he gave me a wierd look and was like "uhhhh, you probably don't want to replace just the connector." At that point I realized he was doing me a favor.

Thing is, that's my exact truck, first thing I thought was What my truck would look like if I got in a crash hope I never have to see something like that in person...glad your okay.

Probably not. I doubt it even exists. Seriously, it had to be F'ed up if it did that much damage to a tank like the Ford.

THANK YOU! for the follow-up info'.

Again ... Glad everything worked-as-designed and you're OK.
