Default Terra Grappler vs BFG Rugged Terrain

I'm looking to upgrade my stockers on my 2011 4x4 Eco Scab. My main reason is the stocks suck and the wife and I are about to try our hand in the 5th wheel RV-ing universe. Really would feel much more safe on 10-plys then the current 2-plys when I'm at or near my max in payload, GVWR, RAWR, etc. Please don't bother with the "should've got a diesel, F250, don't tow a 5th with a F150, etc". . . .I've done my homework and will be within my limits.

I'm about 65% on road unloaded, 25% loaded (either camper, utility trailer, or a bed full of whatever) and 10% off-road. I'm not going to lie, I love the look of good off-road tire, but if I'm being honest with myself, I don't really need something extremely aggressive anymore. I came from some big Goodyear Duratracs on my lifted '05 Dakota and loved them to death, but they were over kill and the wifey didn't like the noise (even though by all accounts for that aggressive of a tire they weren't bad). Plus, I would like to keep my MPGs as high as possible.

Long story short, I've narrowed my choice down to either Terra Grapplers or BFGoodrich Rugged Terrains. Looking for thoughts, opinions, reviews, pics, anything helpful, etc. on how these two compare to each other for my needs.

BTW, I'm going with 275/70 R18 on my stock rims (about 33" diameter). From what I've seen/read on here, these should fit under my stock suspension without any rubbing.

Thanks!

A guy I work with just had the rugged terrains put on his work truck and they look sick...I always thought they lacking compared to a BFG AT but not so much anymore.

One is an All-Terrain (the Nitto) and the BFG is an All-Season with AT looks but should yield a little better MPG.. I put a set of the rugged terrains on my wife's envoy about a month ago and so far so good. They are still a very new tire though so time will tell.

I just put Rugged Terrains on my truck, and so far I'm pleased with them. The noise level is very low - barely noticeable at all. I wasn't sure about the look when I checked them out online, but they look much better when you see them in person.

I like the LT rated tires on my truck and my Terragrappler's have been great so far. Almost 20k miles with very little wear.

if you deal with snow on a regular basis, I am gonna say stay away from the BFG's. they dont have the siping that the nittos do. they are a great all around tire, and arent bad, perse, in the snow. but they arent what I would call good either. the Nittos appear to have a good bit more siping on them and threfore will do better in snow and rain.

I'm in the same spot as jjm1024...did all my research and decided on these two tires, and coincidentally, found this thread. I'd love to get a leveling kit before I buy new tires, but in all honesty, I don't feel like paying another 400 bucks for slightly bigger tires. So I'm just gonna purchase tires for my stock suspension. My Plat came with 275/55/20 Pirelli Scorpions and I am running for the hills to get away from them. Can anyone give me any input here? I'm looking at either of these two brands, either at stock size, or slightly bigger at 275/60/20. Any input on MPG with either tire, road hum, more aggressive look? anything! lol...anyways, I'm down in Houston so rain/flooding is an issue (not recently tho!)..keep the replies coming!
