TCCM programmed or not

TCCM programmed or not
I've been searching the forums looking for information on replacing my Transfer Case Control Module. I've found contradictory comments on whether the TCCM replacements are plug and play or required programming for my specific VIN. I have a 2010 STX with the 4.6L 3V engine. If I have a new TCCM from the dealer I would think it would be plug and play but if I buy a used one with the same P/N, I am unsure, if requires reprogramming. I'm also not sure about TCCM's I might buy from auto parts stores. Can anybody give me some insight on the TCCM's and reprogramming. My TCCM P/N - AL3A-7H417-BB.

You can program most modules with Forscan if you have the equipment. There are only 2 transfer cases without much to program. Not sure if programming is even required, but Forscan would be able to do it easily.

Thanks Spiky. I haven't got the Forscan app, yet but was just reading up on it last night. I do have the bluetooth ELM-327 adapter already plugged in and I have the Torque Pro app but haven't figured out how to get into the TCCM with it. It doesn't appear on the menu of modules.

You need to have the full Windows version to do the programming, 2 month license is free from forscan.org site. If necessary, you can save your current info with Forscan, then do the physical replacement, then reload your saved data to the new module. But, I think this module is only a couple lines. I'm not sure they would even be different. If you go this route, save the current data regardless so you're covered.
