I am getting ready to purchase a new '09 F150 XLT from a nearby dealership. It has everything I want except the tailgate step. Does anybody know if this can be ordered from Ford and installed? I've looked at aftermarket ones online, but none look as convenient as Ford's.

 

I doubt it. You would probably have to order the entire tailgate. Probably a question for... the dealer?

 

You can probably ask the dealer to swap tailgates from another F-150 that has it since the tailgates themselves are easily removable.

 

Best to find a truck with the tailgate step option.

 

I don't think you could get them to do that - they have to sell the truck as it was manufactured AFAIK, if the window sticker says it has a tailgate step, then it *has* to have it I think.
