Tailgate Pop
Whenever I have my tail gate down and put anything with some weight on it. Or myself, when I crawl into the bed. I get a pop noise when I got to put it back up. It sounds like its coming from the driver side pivot point. It does not do it when just opening and closing regularly. Only when something is set on it.
I did lube it up, but that did not fix it.

I think also it's more an annoyance. I had it on my last F150 and after checking with dealer, a replacement of the bar was going to be costly, with the labor. Most on here say to try and grease/lube up the area best possible, which may help or lessen the popping. No harm but it's annoying for sure.

Got it from a ford shop on Ebay for $72, plus $12 shipping.

On both ends of the tailgate there is an access hole where you can see through the entire tailgate. You can see the rod and the grommets. If you can rig something up to grab these grommets and help slide them down the rod you won’t need to disassemble anything. Lube up the rod, maybe try a coat hanger and bring lots of patience.
Have fixed problem with tailgate pop noise when closing taillight.
Picked up a can of foam spray and lowered gate.
Each side has an access point near the bottom mounts
Sprayed half a can each side pointing nozzle toward bottom of the tailgate.
Left gate in down position for an hour with temperatures in the eighties.
Noise gone forever
