Angry Tail Lights not working on a 09'

Newer to the forum, a lot of great things here. Anyways, I just got pulled over today because my taillights were not working. Pretty pissed off since I haven't even owned the truck a year. (It's a 2009 F-150 STX.) Has anyone else had this problem, if so what caused it?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the bulbs are burnt out? If it was me the truck would be sitting at the dealer for them to fix.

I would be bringing it back to the dealer. If it is either a bad fuse or both bulbs burnt out then there is something wrong.

FYI, the NHTSA web site states Ford is issuing a recall on Brake Light Switches which cause this issue and is has been escalted as it can cause crashes.

Make: FORD Model: F-150

That nice but he said tail lights... unless he mistakenly meant brake lights? Definitely 2 different things.

Not to sound like a smartass but are the daytime running lights on these trucks just the headlights being on without parking/tail lights? (I don't have DRL) Maybe the headlights themselves weren't actually on? I sometimes see cars driving around at night in the city with only headlights on and no parking/tail lights...

It's definitely the taillights. Brake lights and reverse lights work. They started working for awhile, but still took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. Had it for two days after that and they went out again. It'll back at the dealer Monday.

The tail light connector above the spare tire may be loose/messed up. Easy to check yourself but agreed the dealer should have it and fix it and give you a loaner. There's no reason for something so new to have this issue.

Agreed, let them know as well that this is a safety issue and you are very concerned.
