Default Tail gate led lights

I installed some low cost brand off amazon this weekend. So far they work and look good. My question is what would be the best way to wire them up beside using the 4 pin connector for the trailer? I did use a wire tap to connect just the reverse light though. I know from my past experience they work ok from time to time. I just didn't want to cut up the factory harness that go to the trailer lights connections.
This the kind I have

Probably best to leave it plugged in if you are concerned. Otherwise, personally trailer harness would be easier to repair/replace down the road instead of tapping into tail light wires. I went that route. Had my Putco plugged into trailer lights for around 8 months with no issues.

I looked at the link and noticed they also illuminate white. Did you splice yours into the backup light circuit as well? Just curious because I think the factory backup lights need all the help they can get.

Also forgot to mention, when i did mine i didn't use wire taps. Too much chance for corrosion. I used adhesive lined heatshrink butt connectors.

I tap the wire that goes on the trailer reverse light. I can assume it used if I connect a trailer to the round 7 pin connector.

So, you don't use the LED bar as an additional back up light?

I will say it provides very little if any backup light due to it being kinds tuck under the tailgate. It does make my back bumper alittle more visible though. Which would help when I have to load the trailer up at night. To help better see my ball hitch.
