LOL. You know the periscope idea is actually one of the most ingenious ideas I've heard. No really! We all are wanting a clean look for the install and are being stymied on how to pipe video into our tablet, which usually already has a camera installed. If we get a standard hard-wired backup camera and install the monitor INSIDE the dash so that the camera from the tab "sees" it, then we have a backup camera viewed from the tablet! I'm trying to think of how I could possibly use one of the miniature monitors from inside the viewfinder of a camcorder.

Interesting. I was thinking last night it might be possible to take the camera out of the iPad and maybe wire in the video feed from the existing backup camera to the iPad camera plug on its motherboard.

iPads are notoriously known as difficult to work on, or repair, devices. That is one reason why I thought of a periscope or some other solution to address the matter. Another possible fix is an IP or network camera mounted out back.

My concern with charging comes from this; with all connections setup, I'll possibly have ALL wireless radios on the iPad running at one time. This means Bluetooth, WiFi (for my OBDII solution), etc.

I was able to do the first step today, I got a 32GB iPad mini with the gorgeous Retina display. In white/silver. There were few other options to choose from. I want to get a vinyl overlay to cover up the white. I have (and love) my white iPhone, but the mini is just SUPER WHITE. I could make white people jokes as to how white it is. I haven't had a lot of play time with it, yet. Within a couple of months, I should be able to get one of TKO's phenomenal dash kits.
