Synthetic Oil

The standard Motorcraft is syn blend, so anyone going to Ford should have blend at least. I recently switched to full syn because they're the same price. Plus, the companies for my other 4 cars use/recommend nothing but full syn, now.

I put full synthetic in everything. I've never quite grasped the concept of semi-syn. I don't see how it can offer any better thermal resistance to breakdown/coking than a conventional oil, but it costs nearly as much as name brand full synthetics.

1st oil change and everyone after with Mobile 1 full synthetic. Motorcraft syn blend is good oil so don't get me wrong. It's really just preference.

I have watched syn vs conv vs semi oil threads turn into pillow fights on other forums, hopefully this won't.
There are articles on the web supporting all three points of view and there is possibly an article for those that don't care. It truely is a preference subject unless there is an OEM recommendation...my preference is to use synthetic in my OHC engines and the OHV engine with roller rockers.

Dear All, Please help from your end as on below.
I have a 2011 ford escape 6cyl with flex fuel. Someone told me that it was not safe to use synthetic oil in my car since it is a flex fuel. How true is this? I have always used synthetic oil and never had any issues.

I agree that Motorcraft syn blend is good oil.
I ran it for 80,000 miles in my 2011 5.0 with the dealer services. I recently switched to full synthetic Castrol Edge 5w-30 because I started doing my own oil changes and I have a lot of faith in the quality of that oil also. I change at 5,000 miles with Ford filters.
My truck has over 100,000 miles and does not use a quart between changes.
