sync text and galaxy s4
 

I have a 2010, and just got a galaxy s4 phone. Text messages no longer work through the truck. Does anyone have this phone working with text, and if so, can you please tell me what you did?

Not that phone but I have an S3 and I believe when you pair the phone it asks if you wan't to download messages. I really don't like that functionality because it doesn't sync deletes. Try to delete your phone and pair it again and see if you missed the prompt.

Since the new update my pandora doesn't resume play any more. If I had it playing and got out of the truck it would stop but as soon as I got back into the truck and it reconnected the music would automatically start playing. This assumed I didn't close pandora. It was cool and now it is not so cool.

I had a Motorola Droid 4 and switched to a Galaxy S4 and lost my text capabilities. From what I understand, the S4 doesn't support it. Really disappointing for how nice the phone is and how well my phone and SYNC worked together before.

I just can't believe that the S4 wouldn't support texting with sync. I guess if that's the way it is, then there's nothign I can do about it, but it'll be a real bummer.

I just got an s4 coming from an iPhone. Can u only play music through bluetooth audio? I plugged my phone in with the cord and tried but it keeps saying "no bluetooth device".

I get the text notifications with my GS4... I can hear it when I select the message and hit "Listen". Haven't tried any text reply's yet (if there is such a thing?).

I appreciate all the feedback, but I'm really looking for an answer to my specific issue. Remember Sync changed on 2011 and up. My question is specific to the 2010 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 texting only.

I wasn't aware that SYNC changed in 2011. What changed? I have a 2009 so I'm in the same boat anyways.

I am in the same boat with my 2009 and my S4. I know I am due a dealership update but not enough time to get it done before I leave out of town for work. interested to see what comes of this.

I for one am glad that Sync and the S4 dont share texts. I hate when it cuts my radio out and puts up a message button. I love the hands free awnsering and what not, but thats all i want my phone and sync to do automatically.

I couldnt get my Motorola Electrify to not send its texts to Sync. It was so annoying.

Per the above compatibility chart, playing music via USB and charging is not supported.

If you choose REPLY TO MESSAGE, SYNC will take you back to the
text messaging menu and allow you to again cycle through the list of
predefined messages to send.

MyFord Touch was released in 2011, but was not available for the F-150 until this year, XtraLargeTall.

I didn't see the Galaxy S4 listed as compatible on the list when sorting by SMS Text.

I have verizon. Did I miss something?

It's just a bummer that it doesn't work.

Google removed the Message Access Profile (MAP) protocol from Jelly Bean around the 4.1.2 release. I have a 2010 F150 and a Droid RAZR MAXX on Verizon that worked together before the phone updated to Jelly Bean (4.1.2).

It wasn't 4.1.2 because my Galaxy Note 2 is currently running 4.1.2 and text messages work on both my truck and wife's Explorer. Her Galaxy S4 also works flawlessly on her Explorer with texts and phone calls as well. I believe her version of Android is 4.2.2 but I could be wrong.

Now granted both of our vehicles are 2013's with the MFT system with Nav and all options but both phones on both systems work great. I don't know if it matters but my Note 2 is on AT&T and her S4 is on T-Mobile.

SMS text messaging is not currently compatible on the Gen 1 system with the S4.

I would try to help you but I have the 2012 system with s4 and it works and I can respond to text with pre made text

This is exactly it, and a load of crap if you ask me. It works on my wifes 2013 focus (just about the only thing that works on that POS sync system). Doesn't work on my 2010 which is a much more stable sync system. It's so frustrating.

I just noticed I can't call out thru my touch screen... I have to voice command (which is kind of annoying) or scroll & call thru my phone.

Do you know if you wife's Focus has had the latest MyFord Touch update (3.6.2) performed?

We had her car at the dealer in July so if it was out then it was applied. It's the third time we've had the car in for the same issues. Honestly, it would be in even more than that if we could actually afford to be without it. We need both cars on a daily basis.

I believe there is a mapping setting on the phone you need to turn on to get it to work. I know I had to on my S4 but I have a 2013 so may not help but worth a try. Google turning mapping on for S4. I know I had to look this up for mine because it would not work with my text messages at first.

Version 3.6.2 was not out in July and it should be available for download in your SYNC account. According to our compatibility chart, texting only works with specific firmware/OS. You can check them out here:

I was having trouble. When I originally paired this phone last week I could call, Pandora, Iheart, and audio through blue tooth. The one thing I liked about my Sport Trac was my text on my nav screen.


I went looking, and I came across this page. http://forums.androidcentral.com/spr...ford-sync.html


While it did not pertain to my S3. It did let me know that there was another settings available after you sync you phone. This is how I did it. (From Memory)


1. I had to go turn on MAP Setting on the truck. [It is under system, advanced, map settings. Pretty sure] I turned it to on. That alone did not get the permission screen on my phone.


2. Deleted my phone from the truck and paired it again. Pin and all. It then wanted to access map on my phone. it then wanted to download my phone book. Which I said yes.


3. I sent myself a message and it worked. It did not download my texts. Thank God.... Too many.


I just finished this 10 minutes ago, so I have no other experience. I will let you all know how it is working.


Disclosure. I am using the no touch sync. I was thinking though reading the steps might help someone.
